What we process

When you paste a YouTube URL, our server fetches that video's public metadata (title, channel, thumbnail, duration, view count, publish date) and transcript directly from YouTube, then sends the transcript text to Google's Gemini API to generate your summary. We don't ask for or process anything about you personally — no account, no email, no payment details.

What we store

Nothing, on our servers, beyond a short-lived cache: video metadata and transcripts are cached in memory for about 10 minutes purely so re-summarizing the same video at a different length doesn't re-fetch it from YouTube. Nothing persists beyond that.

Your "Recent Summaries" history lives entirely in your own browser's local storage. It never leaves your device and we have no access to it — clearing your browser data clears it completely.

Third parties involved

YouTube/Google — to fetch the video's public transcript and metadata your request needs to reach YouTube's servers, subject to Google's own privacy policy.

Google Gemini API — the transcript text is sent to Gemini to generate the summary, subject to Google's Gemini API terms and privacy policy.

Cookies

We use no tracking or advertising cookies. Your theme preference (light/dark/system) is stored locally in your browser, not as a server-side cookie tied to an identity.

Children's privacy

This service isn't directed at children and we don't knowingly process data from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update this page. Continued use of the service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
